Essay on research How Apple Watch Can Spot Heart Issues
Essay on research How Apple Watch Can Spot Heart Issues For more than a year, Apple Watch-based research was conducted by Stanford University in order to figure out whether the device can detect heart issues. The results appeared to be promising even though they canââ¬â¢t be completely accurate. 400,000 volunteers took part in the study but only 0.5 % of device users were warned by Apple Watch that their heart rhythms are irregular. Later on, medical practitioners revealed that 84 % of the notifications concerned episodes of atrial fibrillation, which are signs of the potential development of health issues. In other words, the technology appeared to be capable of avoiding an abundance of false positives, which are undoubtedly the main concern of the research. Besides, it appeared to be reliable enough for the volunteers to make a move and schedule a consultation with a doctor. Those who received alerts agreed to wear an ECG patch for a week and 34 % out of them did show irregularities. About 57 % of the volunteers who saw the warning consulted with a doctor. Itââ¬â¢s important to note that the study used Apple Watches from Series 3 and earlier. Series 4 appeared somewhat later so with its built-in ECG it couldnââ¬â¢t be used for the research. The app was mainly aimed at periodic checks by means of the heart rate sensor for getting notified if something doesnââ¬â¢t function properly. The results that were revealed in the course of the study canââ¬â¢t be fully relied upon. While 84 % is a figure high enough to make the findings trustworthy, a sixth of those who received warning notifications might have no grounds for concern. Besides, it is also possible that people who have atrial fibrillation didnââ¬â¢t receive a notification. The good thing is that the results of testing the Apple Watch device are positive and, hopefully, Apple will continue pushing deeper in the health service.

Resume Tips Part 1 Words and Phrases to Delete from Your Resume
Resume Tips Part 1 Words and Phrases to Delete from Your Resume When I review resumes I find many commonly used words and phrases that are either outright erroneous or simply useless on a resume. I hope this short series of resume tips will decrease the appearance of these words on resumes throughout the job-hunting market. Words to delete from your resume: Various, variety, etc. 1. Various (or ââ¬Å"a variety ofâ⬠). Compare: a. Performed legal research and wrote memoranda and briefs on various civil procedural and substantive issues. b. Performed legal research and wrote memoranda and briefs on civil procedural and substantive issues, including unconscionability, issue preclusion and equitable estoppel. Version a. leaves us with nothing to grab on to. The candidate in version b. sounds a lot more interesting doesnââ¬â¢t she? The trick is to list the actual things that constitute the variety. Variety on its own doesnt tell us much. I acknowledge that there might be exceptions to this rule. Sometimes it does work to use the word ââ¬Å"variousâ⬠or ââ¬Å"variety.â⬠My recommendation is to take it out and see if the bullet works better. It probably will. Please report back what you discover. 2. Etc. ââ¬Å"Etc.â⬠is just a variation on various. Example: a. Managed, developed, and supervised programmatic activities that reduce recidivism through individual counseling, mentoring, family supportive counseling, girls empowerment groups, life skills classes, leadership workshops, etc. This list is long enough. What could possibly be added by adding ââ¬Å"etc.â⬠to the end of it? It just leaves the reader hanging. Make your list, put an ââ¬Å"andââ¬â¢ before the last item, and add to it in your interview if necessary. You are welcome to precede your list with ââ¬Å"includingâ⬠or ââ¬Å"such as.â⬠OK now go look at your resume. Did you find various or etc.? Did you delete them? What was the impact? Share the results in the comments below. Hope you found these resume tips useful. For more resume writing assistance, check outà The Essay Experts Resume Writing Services.

Current event analysis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 1
Current event analysis - Essay Example The article argues that the study is highly significant as the prevalence of alcoholism and depression is frequently interrelated, and no substantial treatments have yet been designed to specifically address this diagnosis. The study was conducted by Helen Pettinati Ph.D. and her associates at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to receiving the medical treatments, the patients underwent cognitive-behavioral therapy. Over a fourteen week period, one-hundred seventy people were tested, using four treatment groups. All four treatment groups demonstrated improvements. While all four groups demonstrated improvements, the group that received the combined treatment demonstrated the highest rate of abstinence and also had the longest intervals in between drinking. The difference in intervals was extreme, with the average interval for patients with the combined drug 61 days; while the other groups combined was 15 days. While the article states that the combined treatment was most effective in reducing adverse side effects (namely hospitalization for rehabilitation), it neglects to mention if there were new side effects from the combination of the drugs. It also doesnââ¬â¢t neglect if research is looking into a hybrid drug that would function to treat alcoholism and depression
